Correspondence between family members can give great insights into what our ancestors' lives were like, what trials they faced, and what some of their viewpoints were. These writings really bring them to life right before our eyes, and help us to visualize their world as they saw it. They also tell us where they lived, and often mention other people of interest. Family letters, rare as they are to find, are a treasure.
