Letters from James and Samuel Brewer, 1860's

I haven't yet figured out the connection to other Brewers on this website, but James and Samuel were brothers from Mississippi, whose ancestry traces back to one of the old Brewer families of Virginia. About all I can find is that their immigrant ancestor was Sackfield Brewer, who came to James City County, Virginia from London, England as an indentured servant in the mid 1600's. After the conclusion of his indenture, Sackfield saved up enough money to buy his own land, which he called Peace Hill. The family eventually migrated to Mississippi. These letters are very interesting, and give an indication of the morale and some of the feelings of these two young Confederates during the War Between the States.
